Unlocking Credibility and Passive Income

Hello ,

In my latest episode of the Wisepreneurs Podcast, I spoke with Debbie Jenkins, a prolific author and experienced publisher.

Her approach to writing short, valuable books is practical for building credibility and generating passive income.

Business professionals often juggle multiple tasks and often need to pay more attention to their marketing.

Debbie’s method focuses on an important but not urgent task as a part of your marketing, a principle I’ve advocated using the Eisenhower matrix.

The Power of Short, Valuable Books

Debbie highlights the ease and impact of writing concise, valuable books that solve specific problems for your audience. These books don’t need to be lengthy; they need to be clear and practical. This saves your readers’ time and positions you as an authority.

Printing these books rather than offering them as ebooks or Kindle versions makes them valuable marketing assets that are just as effective for giving away as for selling.

I’ve highlighted that many of my podcast guests have passive income streams from their books and courses, and this may be an excellent starting point for you.

Getting Started: Practical Steps

Debbie shared some practical steps:

  1. Write an Outline: Organize your thoughts for a smooth content flow.
  2. Think Through the Content: Focus on solving problems and providing value.
  3. Seek Helpers: Collaborate with others for editing, formatting, and ideas.

Applying the Eisenhower Matrix

Marketing directly correlates to your business revenue but often falls into the ‘important but not urgent’ category. Writing a how-to book based on your expertise is a prime example of a task to prioritise.

Consistency is the key here. Dedicate regular time to working on your book as part of your marketing plan. Over time, this will boost your credibility and attract the clients you want.

Building Credibility

Debbie Jenkins’ approach to short, valuable books is a practical way to build credibility and generate passive income. For further insights, consider reading her books Stop Writing Books Nobody Reads and Stop Selling Books Nobody Buys.

Unlocking Efficiency with Automation

We will not escape AI, so it’s time to examine it closely and consider how AI and automation free us up to focus on what is important. While automation involves using technology to perform repetitive tasks, AI encompasses more advanced capabilities like learning, decision-making, and much more.

Mastering hot keys on your computer, learning to touch type, and using a snippet service for repetitive shortcuts are simple places to start. These steps will help reduce routine tasks, minimise errors, and allow you to concentrate on what matters to you.

Practical Takeaways:

• Learn to Touch Type: Use free online resources like Keybr https://www.keybr.com/

• Master Hot Keys: Spend a few minutes learning shortcuts for your most-used applications.

• Use Snippet Services: Tools like TextExpander or AutoHotkey to save time with repetitive text entries.

• Mac Users: Two automation programs to consider are Hazel and Alfred. Alfred offers a range of automations, including snippets, making it a particularly useful app.
